Goal-setting for Couch-to-5K
One of the motivational things recommended for the Couch-to-5K plan is to pick a 5km race and aim to run in it.

Choices are limited in Ithaca. The Fingerlakes Runners Club has a calendar of upcoming races. While there are several races and runs, few are 5km.

The next 5km run is Wednesday, June 13th, the Ithaca Twilight 5K. It's a flat run on a track and asphalt roads. They note that the course crosses a train track at grade, and runners MUST STOP if the barrier is down. Runners who don't stop will be disqualified (if they make it).

It's 13 weeks away. The C25K program is 9 weeks. That gives 4 weeks/12 runs for "not gonna finish today" and still make the run.

It seems a Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, and Timely goal.

2 weeks earlier is a short 1 mile "fun run" at Buttermilk Falls. I might do that too, but I'm not committing to it.
