An interesting strategy...

Last night I noticed that NetFlix Watch Instantly on my Wii was offering me a large collection of anime and animation (mostly Japanese) including Bleach and Hikaro no Go, both series that either Skitten or I like.

Both series are available on Watch Instantly subtitled only. Both series have English-translated credits (Hikaru no Go even has English-language voice actor credits). But only the Japanese audio track is available.

I know, from other foreign-language programs, that NetFlix has the ability to stream subbed or dubbed versions of movies, and I know, from having rented DVDs of both series, that these shows have English-language audio tracks available.

My only feeling is that the American distribution companies want to encourage DVD rental/purchase for fans that like dubs while discouraging those same fans from watching it streaming.

Or something like that.
