How does my mind do this?
blaisepascal
I've started reading The Hunger Games, and I've finished through Chapter 6. One the one hand, I'd like to discuss what I've read so far, since I have thoughts as to what will happen in the rest of the book, but on the other hand, I know that discussing it with anyone who's actually read the books will be frustrating, since the only thing they can reasonably say that's spoiler-free is "Keep reading, you'll see.".

Somehow, my mind got onto other spoilers (Rosebud is a sled, etc). And then my mind hit upon this lovely scene from the end of Book 6 of Harry Potter:

The blast from Voldemort's wand knocked Harry backwards towards the edge. He tripped and fell, only barely arresting his plummet by grabbing a gargoyle on Hogwart's roofline. His wand slipped from the fingers of his broken hand and fell slowly into the dark fog the Death Eaters had cast around the school.

"Harry", Voldemort said as he slowly advanced, "Dumbledore never told you what happened to your father".

"He told me enough", Harry shouted back through the wind-whipped rain, "He told me you killed him."

"No, I am your father"

Harry looked away, screaming in anguish "No! No! That's not true! That's impossible".

Voldemort put away his wand, and approached Harry with his hand extended. "Search your feelings, you know it to be true!"

"No! No!" Harry cried out. In his anguish, pain, and shock, his fingers slipped in their precarious hold on the gargoyle and he fell, into the darkness below. His fall was arrested by one of the lower roofs of Hogwarts, and he bounced, rolled to the edge, his battered, bruised body coming to rest against a sconce overlooking a hundred-foot fall to the ground.

"Hermione, Hermione" Harry called, in a voice barely louder than a whisper as he drifted into unconsciousness.

Out of the darkeness, Hermione and Ron rose up on broomsticks. They carefully lifted Harry's limp body and slung it over the front of Hermione's broomstick. The three of them flew off to regroup, heal, and fight again another day.

Of course, Hermione turns out to be Harry's twin sister, also the love-child of Tom Riddle and Lily Potter, which is why she ends up with Ron...
